Rooted in Peace
I love the phrase, ‘Rooted in Peace’, which describes how we live the Shin Dao – the Way of the Heart. As we walk the path of the Shin Dao, we lead the way with peaceful hearts and minds. We do our best to be at peace with ourselves, be at peace with our environment, with nature and the world around us.
Being ‘rooted in peace’ means living with forgiveness and love; leaving the path of judgement and violence far behind us and choosing a path of compassion and understanding instead.
This anonymous quote speaks of peace quite powerfully:
“Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart…”
Rooted in Peace is also the title of a powerful documentary that will be showing in Calgary on March 26th. Unity of Calgary (with great thanks to their sponsors) will be hosting a showing of this film journey that challenges viewers to examine their values and to take notice of the world we live in. The film will encourage you to proactively seek ways to find personal and ecological peace, and stop the cycle of violence. You can view a trailer of the movie below.
Because peace is so important to the path of the Shin Dao, we have chosen to engage in the Peace Walk on March 25th and the Peace movie on March 26th.
With our recent alignment with Ploughshares Calgary, we may also be engaging in peace events in August and September.
You can sign up to receive email reminders of upcoming Peace Events at www.peace.shindao.com
We sincerely hope you will join us for each of these Peaceful events, for, as John Lennon said, “Peace is not something you wish for; it’s something you Make, something you Do, something you Are, and something you Give Away.”
In the meantime, create a peaceful week… and take a look at the other wonderful experiences you can engage in with us!
